Learning about the Kankanaey people gives deeper appreciation for the richness and diversity of Filipino culture. Before studying this topic, knowledge is only limited to the Cordillera region, but now understanding how strong, skilled, and wise the Kankanaey's are in keeping their traditions alive despite the changes of time.

What is most inspiring is how they value community and cooperation. Their way of life, whether in farming, mining, or celebrating rituals, always centers on unity and respect for others. It shows that success and happiness for them are not about wealth, but about harmony with people and nature. Their rice terraces, handwoven textiles, and rituals reflect their deep connection to the land and their ancestors.

It's impressive how the Kankanaey continue to balance tradition and modernity. Even with modernization and migration, they have not forgotten their roots. Their stories, dances, and beliefs continue to teach younger generations about identity and pride.

Learning about the Kankanaey people opened my eyes to the rich tapestry of indigenous cultures in the Philippines, highlighting their deep-rooted resilience and harmony with the environment. Exploring their traditions like gold mining, weaving, and rice cultivation helped me appreciate their sustainable innovations that predate modern science.

I found their communal values, bayas feasts, and day-eng songs deeply inspiring. Their social structure, emphasizing family, elder wisdom, and cooperation, reminds me of how true progress respects both people and nature.

This experience made me realize that indigenous cultures are not remnants of the past — they are living testaments of identity, resilience, and pride that continue to guide us today.

Learning about the Kankanaey people made me appreciate the beauty of Philippine cultural diversity. Their ability to preserve customs and values despite modern influences is admirable. Their farming methods and terraced fields show not only hard work but a sacred relationship with the land.

Their strong sense of kinship, community celebrations, and respect for elders remind me that unity and shared values build strength. The Kankanaey people reflect harmony between culture, environment, and humanity — lessons we should carry forward.

Studying them encouraged me to value our indigenous peoples as guardians of identity, reminding us of who we are and what we can learn from the wisdom of our ancestors.
